![]() Entergy power outages June 2016- May 2017 City Council has opened an investigation into the root causes of these many outages (Docket UD-17-04) and will be requiring Entergy to implement a plan to fix the problem. (New Orleans, LA) –Today, the Alliance for Affordable Energy, Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, Inc., and Sierra Club filed an objection to Entergy’s request for a decision on its latest gas power plant application without public input nor independent analysis. The filing requests adequate time for public review and input by New Orleans residents who will be asked to pay for the gas power plant and bear the burdens of its environmental impact.

Today, the Alliance for Affordable Energy, Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, and the Sierra Club commend Mayor Mitch Landrieu for developing a Climate Action Strategy for the City of New Orleans. The Mayor’s ‘Climate Action for a Resilient New Orleans’ calls for 255 megawatts of locally generated solar energy by 2030 and promotes a transition to 100% "low-carbon power."
