The Council’s committee will consider solutions to New Orleans’ resilience challenges being addressed in docket UD-21-03.

They will consider two related resolutions for investments in the city’s resilience:

  1. A resolution to approve $100M investment for Entergy to upgrade and harden power poles.
  2. A resolution devoting funds to a vendor-neutral distributed battery and microgrid program. The resolution will open a public proceeding (docket) to design program details with community input.

Representatives from The Alliance & Together New Orleans will be at the meeting to present our proposal regarding item 2, a vendor-neutral distributed battery and microgrid program. We are asking the Council to commit settlement funds to energy storage that will be paired with solar and sited in homes, community centers, restaurants, senior centers and other resilience “hubs”.

We have asked the Council to create a public process to ensure transparency and community involvement in the design & implementation of programs that would leverage hundreds of millions of federal dollars in clean energy.
