Become a RESNET certified Home Energy Rater
How?
For those interested in becoming an energy rater, the Alliance for Affordable Energy and Louisiana's premier RESNET instructor, Wade Byrd, of Performance Building Consulting are offering a nine-day intensive training course beginning Saturday, September 18th, 2010. The course will be held in the Alliance for Affordable Energy's BuildSmart Learning Center at 1001 S Broad St.
Why?
In May 2010, the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) significantly expanded its Home Energy Rebate Option (HERO) program with $15 million of new ARRA stimulus funds. The program provides thousands of dollars for energy efficiency upgrades to new and existing homes, but every participating home must receive an energy rating to qualify. To encourage more people to become RESNET certified energy raters, DNR offered a $1,000 rebate toward the cost of training and an additional 50% rebate on equipment purchases. The incentive is available to the first 100 new energy raters. With 80 requests submitted to DNR to date, prospective energy raters have a limited time to request one of the 20 training rebates that still remain.
