Elections
UPDATE: During January 11-14, 2010 the Alliance submitted surveys on energy policy and regulatory issues to candidates in all City Council races.
City Council candidate survey repsonses
The government officials who regulate utilities and set energy regulation policies in Louisiana are elected officials and thereby responsible to the citizens of our state. At the state level, the Louisiana Public Service Commission regulates utilities, and in New Orleans, the New Orleans City Council regulates utilities. The state will hold elections for both Louisiana Public Service Commission District 3 and several New Orleans City Council seats in 2010.
Since our regulators are elected officials, if we as citizens do not approve of the policies they set, it is our responsibility to elect representatives who better serve our needs. To that end we provide the following elections information:
