In a recent ruling by the Administrative Law Judge, Entergy was denied a request to charge the rate-payers for a failed nuclear power project.  The Alliance joined Louisiana's Large Energy Users Group in a lawsuit against Entergy to protect rate-payers from unfair costs. Entergy spent a chunk of change on a nuclear power study before getting approval from the Louisiana Public Service Commission. 

Utilities get to operate as a monopoly but in exchange for no competition, they accept regulation.  Hence, the utilities have to get permission from the regulators before spending rate-payer dollars.  Judge Meiners ruled that Entergy had not gone through the proper procedures.  It's a big win for Louisiana's rate-payers!
