July 2 - On June 23, 2009, the Alliance filed written comments regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recent endangerment finding and proposed rule for CO2 and other greenhouse gases. The proposed rule would, for the first time, regulate greenhouse gas pollutants from motor vehicles.

Though the regulation of emissions from motor vehicles falls outside the Alliance’s typical purview, the combined effects of all global warming pollution are of concern to us and we support strong measures to curb emissions. Additionally, climate change has had and will continue to have a major impact on the reliability of electricity service because it fuels more intense hurricanes.

“More intense hurricanes threaten Louisiana’s infrastructure and energy security,” says Alliance Legal Advisor Jesse George. “Hurricane-related damage is not only costly to ratepayers, who must foot the bill for repairs, but is also a threat to our energy security and the efficient operation of government and essential services.”
